Well, as far as a health product topic to come up with for our first niche challenge.  I have a domain sitting around getting dusty and on that domain is a super dusty and out of date site.  I’m currently running WordPress for it and I think I’ll stick with it because it is really easy to update and I can implement a datafeed on it as well.

Just a few things that come to mind that I need to work on with this site:

• Need update the theme of the site.  It looks terrible!
• Need to add All-In-One SEO plugin to the site
• Research keywords
• Write 10 articles (at least)
• Look into free ways to market the site once it’s up and running
• Should I put a datafeed on the site as well?

So far that’s what comes to mind and I’ll keep this list handy (I’ve written it down) and keep adding to it if anything comes to mind.

It’s got a PR1.  I’m not sure how much that matters - but for advertisers it seems to matter plenty.  Even Google thinks it’s pretty important if they keep moving it around and removing it from some sites who don’t play by their rules.  Just my opinion

I’m excited to finally have a reason to get back to working on this site!

P.S.  I’m thinking of giving the site 3 months to turn in some money (I’m still thinking of a goal).  If it doesn’t work out - I’ll flip it at SitePoint or DigitalPoint… or somewhere like that to see if I can make some money from it and move on.

Well, unless something goes totally crazy in the next half hour - all bets for our first niche will be on something Health Related. It’s a pretty broad subject and it is one of those topics that isn’t going to go away or out of style. Of course now comes the tricky part - picking a niche within the big “Health Products” label.

Remember: The choice is yours for this month’s challenge. You can either pick up a new domain name or stick with one you might already own. If you already own the site and have been working on it or in my case totally neglecting it - now is our chance to dust it off and improve it.

Also, because this is open to everyone on the Internet to see - it is also completely up to you whether you post the domain name here or not. You can have total anonymity if you like and call it Health Site #1 or Moon Roxy Whatever #1.

So now’s the time for a bit of brainstorming. Purchase a domain if you haven’t already. Then let us know here when you’ve done that. From there we’ll set up the goal for this niche.

Hi everyone!

Just to let you know that I’ve now bumped everyone who’s signed up (up to today) to “Author” status on this blog - you will be able to sign in and post articles about how things are going, questions you might have, directions you’d like to take this project or your sites. You can also upload files.  Let me know if things aren’t working… and all that jazz.

Also we’ve got to get our butts in gear and pick a niche.  Just as it would be expected for our first niche - the poll is pretty evenly distributed.  5 votes - five topics.  Anyone care to break the tie? :)  I’ll leave things till the end of the day.  If no one votes - I’ll pull a random niche from a hat.  From there we can focus in further on a niche and do a bit of research and discuss the game plan situated for each of us and roll out the first niche on February 1st.  I feel giving us time to get our ducks in a row is a good thing.

Anyone have any strong feelings on which niche to pick?  Let me know before the day is over … otherwise I’ll be making a pick from a hat.

Hi everyone!  I’m so excited to see you all here and I’m really excited to get going with this project - creating sites and making money with them.  I’ve been working online to make money since June 2005 and honestly I could use the help to make a little more online.  I think at some point or another we need a bit of a jolt of new ideas and enthusiasm to get things on a roll again - and I’m hoping this site will help motivate everyone here and on the ‘Net to start making money or start earning more.

With that said, and with the results of the poll - so evenly spread amongst the ideas for our first niche - what do you think?

I’m leaning towards this sort of idea.

1. We pick the niche.
2. If you have a domain in that niche - go with it.  It doesn’t matter what PR you have or how old the site is, I’m sure there is always some room for improvement.  Whether you’re looking for more advertisers, content or just a bump up in sales.
3. If you don’t have a domain in the niche, buy one.
4. Create your site - doesn’t matter on what CMS - WordPress, Drupal, HTML - it doesn’t matter.  But keep in mind you want this to be easy enough to update and make changes to.  Whatever you’re comfortable working in.  Go for it!
5. We will set up our own goals for the month, 3 months, 6 months and year for the site.

From there we’ll add our content/links/ads/advertisers to the site.  We do our own SEO and we’ll talk about what we’re doing.  If we’re stuck or looking for motivation - we can talk to each other.

I’m keeping the site open to everyone to read - but only those registered are able to comment/post. (So if anyone reading this wants to join in - REGISTER today - the more the merrier!)

Welcome to Niche to Riches! I’m looking forward to working with you towards making some passive income online. We all know that this is definitely not an overnight deal - you will not make money instantly. You will have to work your butt off to start seeing results of your work. This process can take time - and we’ve all got to start somewhere.

This is all about having fun while learning about affiliate marketing, SEO, creating web content, designing a great website. The whole 9 yards is going into this little site. It’s about taking the steps you need to take to make a success of working online.

This aspect of the web is getting bigger and bigger everyday. Since I’ve started I’ve seen hundreds, if not thousands of new Affiliate Marketing/Make money online sites pop up. I’m happy to see it - but at the same time I’ve become a bit disconnected from the group. I’m looking towards making a community of people who share a passion.

You create your own sites, you make your own money. It’s a friendly competition to see who reaches the monthly goals first. It’s about sharing ideas. It’s about coming together and opening the door to new ideas, new niches on the Internet.
